Benicio Del Toro Jumps Overboard From Star Trek Sequel – Khan Still A Possibility

According to a report from Vulture.com, a bit of disappointing news, it’s been confirmed that negotiations have ceased and Benicio Del Toro is no longer in the running to play the lead villain for the newly rebooted Star Trek movie franchise’s next installment.

Sadly, there’s one high-profile star whom Abrams didn’t manage to beam up: Benicio Del Toro, who entered into talks last month to play the sequel’s new villain. Insiders tell Vulture that the deal actually went asunder last Wednesday after parties couldn’t come to terms over monetary issues.

Despite J.J. Abrams’ straightforward “Not true.” response to a recent claim that number one Captain Kirk bad guy, Khan Noonien Singh, is in the movie, the report also claims:
Vulture hears from a highly placed source that Khan is indeed the film’s baddie.

Star Trek II opens in theaters 05/17/13
