J.J. Abrams To Direct Star Wars: Episode VII

The Wrap is reporting that Star Trek director J.J. Abrams is taking on another scifi goliath by signing on to direct Star Wars: Episode VII. High profile directors like Matthew Vaughan, Jon Favreau, and Ben Affleck were all contenders to helm the next chapter in the saga but thanks to a push from Steven Spielberg to Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams landed the job.

Writer Michael Ardn (Toy Story 3) is penning the script and Disney is looking to release the film in Summer of 2015.
