Harrison Ford Out Of Star Wars Episode VII For 8 Weeks Due To Injury

Last Thursday Ford injured his ankle on set. THR now reports that the actor will be out for 8 weeks as a result.

Ford, who’s reprising his role as Han Solo, was injured by the door of the Millennium Falcon, the spacecraft that his character pilots in the original films. The spaceship seems to be making a return in the sequel.

Ford was taken to a hospital after injuring his ankle on Thursday, but shooting will continue in his absence. The studio is determined to stay tack for the film’s 12/18/15 release date.

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Gwendoline Christie and Lupita Nyong’o join Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker, and the film opens December 18, 2015
