That was fast. A couple of days ago, several major media sources reported that actor Alec Baldwin would be playing Thomas Wayne in the upcoming film, The Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix. This version of Thomas Wayne would have portrayed as “a cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump”. As of yesterday, Baldwin is no longer attached to the project. Here it is straight from the horse’s mouth:
Let me state, for the record, that I have NOT been hired to play a role in Todd Phillips’ JOKER as some Donald Trump manque.
That is not happening.

Baldwin chatted with USA Today and cited scheduling issues for the reason behind his departure. “I’m no longer doing that movie,” the actor is quoted as saying, “I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part.”
Despite Baldwin jumping ship, The Joker still has amazing star power aside Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, and Marc Maron all have supporting roles.
